Trying to justify the 4-5,000 civilian deaths in Iraq by saying that the world is better off without Saddam is like trying to justify the deaths of six million Jews by saying that the world is better off without Hitler. The weaseling of politicians this week on both sides of the atlantic has been staggering.

typing this while listening to question time on BBC1. a discussion of the EU where the panel seem dangerously close to actually discussing issues rather than just arguing. fortunately, nobody has said anything relevant to us having to make an informed decision so we can all rest easy and argue about straight bananas...
